FAQ TERA
What is TERA and how does it differ from other MMORPGs?
TERA is the first MMORPG featuring true action combat, providing all of the depth of an MMO with the intensity and gratification of an action game. Players fully control their characters using the game's dynamic battle system. Player actions can change the balance of power in a world threatened by dark powers as seven allied races try to work together to protect their lands from marauding monsters, underworld dwellers, and evil scheming gods.
Set in a breathtaking world conjured by two dreaming primal gods, your explorations will take you over rugged mountains, across searing deserts, and through hazardous jungles. Take your place as a soldier for the Valkyon Federation and fight alongside other races to forge a new future while healing the mistakes of the past.
There's no time for factions in TERA—all seven races and eight classes must cooperate to wrench destiny from the gods themselves! Arm yourself, gather your allies, and take control of your fate. Fighting prowess, guild rankings, and social dynamics come together as you find yourself vying for political control of the world itself in TERA's unique endgame.

I've seen videos of TERA controlled with a game controller. What's this about?
TERA's action-combat gameplay lends itself to game controller support very well. We encourage everyone to try TERA with a game controller. It just might grow on you!
Which controller features are supported?
Mouse movement and all action bindings are supported. You can configure your controller to perform all of the action bindings available to a mouse and keyboard. This includes movement, abilities on your action bars, UI commands, navigating menus and even adjusting your view. In addition, some controllers support combination bindings. The Xbox 360 controller, for example, can bind a shoulder or trigger with the A, B, X and Y buttons to increase the number of useable actions.
Can I use a keyboard and game controller together?
Yes, you can use a keyboard and controller together without issue. Actions must still be bound to the appropriate devices but each action has two binding options which allows for a seamless transition between the keyboard and controller. Although you can bind quick chat to your controller, you will still need a keyboard if you wish to type your own messages.
Is TERA a persistent world or instanced game?
TERA is a persistent world game with certain instanced areas.
Is there open-world PvP in TERA?
There are world PvP servers in TERA; these PvP servers will also include battlegrounds that provide specific PvP rewards. There are also PvE servers that provide consensual PvP content, such as battlegrounds and duels.

When will TERA launch in North America?
TERA will launch in North America on May 1, 2012 and in Europe on May 3, 2012.
I've seen the phrase "action combat" referred to a lot in TERA. What does "action combat" mean?
TERA's combat feels right. Where TERA really delivers is that the action is positional where players need to dodge, jump and make split-second decisions. The action is visceral and the enemies are quick and smart. Without skill, you can't be successful. TERA's action combat is very fluid which is one of the things that really makes it stand out.
What does end-game look like in TERA?
There is some great endgame content with our political system and big ass monster battles, but the game definitely doesn't start there. TERA's action combat pulls you in quickly and makes each battle dynamic. We have a world class writing team who has crafted a story that will pull you in right away. These things, plus incredible visuals, over 600 monsters, thousands of quests, guilds, PvP gameplay, and politics will pull you in from the very beginning and keep you playing.
What is En Masse's role in localizing TERA?
The great thing about TERA is that it provides an excellent foundation to build from—the game has all the elements of a great MMO and even some new ones we think will improve the genre—so the fundamentals won't change. Localization is focused on the game play, story and the emotional depth of the player experience. The community's input is very important to us, so we've been running focus tests and betas to gain feedback from Western audiences. We want to be absolutely sure we're giving Western MMO gamers what they want from a next-generation MMO.
